Mother nature wouldn’t allow New Zealand and Australia to finish their match at the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
The match was abandoned due to poor weather, according to the official Twitter account of Cricket ICC:
The announcement came after a lengthy suspension of play, which lasted more than two hours. At the time of the suspension, New Zealand was looking to outscore Australia, who finished with 243 runs.
Adam Voges and George Bailey both played very well for Australia, even though the final score won’t count. Voges scored 56 runs for his team while Bailey contributed 71 runs.

Daniel Vettori was New Zealand’s top bowler, finishing the match with a 2.30 economy rate. Mitchell McClenaghan was the least effective of the New Zealand bowlers, allowing 65 runs and a 6.50 economy rate.
The two clubs have met four times in previous years at the ICC Championship Trophy and Australia has won all four. We’ll never know which team would have won the fifth matchup. but both clubs will take a point from Wednesday’s abandoned match, according to the official Twitter account of the New Zealand cricket team:
New Zealand now has three points after winning against Sri Lanka in the team’s first game in England and by picking up a point against Australia. Australia now sits at four points, losing to England in its opener.
There’s still the possibility that all four teams in Group A advance to the next round.
England and Sri Lanka will battle each other on Thursday, and once that fixture is complete, we’ll know a lot more about what’s to come at the ICC Champions Trophy. Until then, we have to let Mother Nature run her course.
